hot needles cool stitches
My contribution from the workshop titled above. Found some rusty washers and attached them to this piece of pre felt that I had smothered with fly stitches in a variety of threads.
The embellisher then leaped into action, followed by zig zag on the sewer. The end result was so stiff it stood up all by itself........

guess?
Amongst other things I made pancakes today and marvelled at the texture! Oh, I would like to make a fibre version of this little masterpiece!
ps..I stuffed them with cheese, spinach, tomato, onion and bacon, the texture amazingly changed very quickly!

Had a productive afternoon, whipped up some postcards...
Started with 6 blank 6x4 cards. Placed them together, and ironed on some 'wonder under' over the 6 cards.
Scraps of paper, pieces of hessian, scrim, infact it resembled floor sweepings.. were added over the wonder under.
When all the bits and pieces were 'in place' a hot iron was executed over the lot, to secure it to the cards.
I then turned the 6 cards (now one piece) over and cut up into 6 individual cards again. I trimmed edges, and added odd pieces of wonder under randomly on each card. I then ironed some sheer fabric, an old scarf bought at good sammies, and secured it all.
Even burnt some edges of the sheer and it melted beautifully, creating added texture... (and burnt fingers)
Quite pleased with the outcome. It resembles an aerial view as you come in to land.. in this postcard the photocopy of 'houses' in black and white has come up really well and looks in context....
just sharing my afternoon, and endeavours.....enjoy!

added some machine stitching, as it turned out, the colours were very earthen, so used blue, green and brown thread and did a tight zig zag around shapes....

Hot needles .. cool stitches workshop with Dale has also kept me busy and amused using the embellisher to distress sheers was fun and a learning experience, reconstructing..deconstructing, hacking and slashing..showing no mercy to whatever passed under the needles....
I will cut these up and rearrange on top of a 'flimsie' ( thin layer of felted wool) by handstitching.
Will post when done..........

Beach and Footy....
BEACH AND FOOTY HAVE TAKEN UP MY TIME LATELY............................................. This is all less than 1 kilometre from home...... bliss
Paw prints...
Fremantle Dockers.... Go Freo.... Beaten by the rivals West Coast... oh well they really wanted to show off their new jumpers anyway...
The beach images I thought were interesting and I would like to print them to ATPs and iron them to fabric and have fun experimenting with the embellisher, and distorting them enough to use as a background for a felted piece.......we'll see and keep you posted what I do with them....
The footy pic? We'll see....
